FAQ
12. Where does my volunteer fee go?
The primary reason for joining Voluntour South Africa should be based on our authentic and ethical approach. We began this 30 day tour in response to the need for more ethically based volunteering projects and their organizers, and VSA is 100% owned by the EA Trust (Visit our website at www.educatingafrica.com). We will donate all profits after costs to the projects we support, and we are happy to provide additional information or answer any questions openly in this regard.
The primary aim of our mission is to provide the projects (our beneficiaries) with much needed cash as well as your physical support - and at the same time offer you a true journey of discovery within this country. We have a large team of external support but only 2 paid members within VSA.
A percentage of your fee goes towards the journey itself.
This will include the following costs:
Accommodation
Food (except lunch when you are not working on a project)
Petrol
Vehicle insurance, purchase, maintenance
Tolls
Elephant Park entrance and guide hire
Guide
Public insurance
Other expenses are:
Admin and booking fees
24 hr support
Marketing
50% of your fee goes to the projects, this equates to around R400 per volunteer per day. A welcome contribution towards sustainability.
